OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma County district judge accused of not paying taxes requested a delay in disciplinary proceedings against her in a separate case that charges her with inappropriate behavior in the courthouse.

Judge Kendra Coleman will face trial before the Oklahoma Court on the Judiciary on accusations involving unpaid taxes, her 2018 campaign and her conduct in court. She has denied any wrongdoing.

In a separate case, Coleman faces another trial over a criminal charge accusing her of tax evasion in 2017. Her next court appearance in that case is set for July 20.

The Court on the Judiciary could vote to remove Coleman from office or impose lesser sanctions.

On Tuesday, Coleman's attorney filed an emergency motion asking that the court not proceed with disciplinary action against the judge while her criminal case is ongoing. Attorney Joe White argued that Coleman's rights under the U.S. Constitution to a fair trial and to remain silent will be violated if she's compelled to respond to the special court about the tax accusations.

The prosecutor handling disciplinary proceedings said in response that the allegations from the felony charge will not be mentioned "out of an abundance of caution" to not jeopardize the integrity of either case.

Coleman, 44, accepted a paid suspension last week until her trial set for Aug. 31.
