Conspiracy!?!
July 3, 2020
In the world today we hear the word conspiracy talked about quite a bit. Sometimes the word is actually used and sometimes it is not. Sometimes the word is used if someone wants others to not believe it. It seems that our leaders are obsessed and confused because of conspiracy.
What is a conspiracy? Webster’s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition, states, “a planning and acting together secretly, esp. for an unlawful or harmful purpose such as murder or treason.” Conspiracies have existed throughout history. With the wide use of the internet the ability to create conspiracies is far too easy and we seem to believe some or all these conspiracy theories. People, media and governments use the conspiracies to try and control what we think or do. Also, like I mentioned briefly above, some use the ideas to make us think that something is not there or something is not going on. It is used to distract us from the truth. It is used to make us not believe something, even the Bible.
In the book of Isaiah God tells Isaiah what to do about these conspiracies. Isaiah 8:11-12 states, “This is what the Lord says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people: ‘Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear and do not dread it.’” God continues to tell him that he should fear God. This fear is respect, trust and love towards God. God is telling Isaiah not to fear like the people do. We should not fear what is doing on in the world today. We are to be smart and use the gift of common sense that God gave us, but we cannot fear. That gives Satan a foothold.
God is also telling Isaiah to question what is being said. We should do the same. We should investigate the conspiracy and see what we find out. We should investigate the ideas and reports that are being shared. Many of the ideas are false and will disappear in time. We have seen that in the last few months. Some conspiracies are worth being aware of and seeing what happens in time.
