OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — There are a reported 825 newly confirmed coronavirus cases in Oklahona and three additional deaths due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reported Saturday.

The department said there are now 43,080 reported cases in the state and the death toll stands at 603. The true number of coronavirus cases in Oklahoma is likely higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.

The health department reported 594 hospitalizations, up from 561 reported Friday, and said 35,745 people have recovered from the virus and said there are 6,732 cases reported as active.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death. The vast majority of people recover.
