DENNIS EUGENE MEYER
September 6, 2020
Dennis Eugene Meyer was born April 18, 1947, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Leola Faye (White) and Elmer Fredric Meyer. He passed from this life suddenly on August 31, 2020, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 13 days.
Except for his time in the military, Dennis spent his entire life on a farm north of Alva. He graduated from Alva High School with the class of 1965.
Farming was in his blood from childhood where he learned about farming and raising cattle from his dad, Elmer, and granddad, Lloyd White. Anyone who knew Dennis knew he worked hard on the farm and with his cattle. He bought his first farm when he was 16. Retirement was never part of his vocabulary. There was always something that needed to be done, fields that needed to be worked, something that needed to be repaired.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martin and Emma Meyer and Lloyd and Ida White, and his parents Elmer and Leola Meyer.
Dennis is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Raman and Jeanice Chopra, of Wichita, Kansas. Due to the Corona Virus, graveside services were privately held.
It was Dennis's wish that memorials be given to help find a cure for the illness that claimed his life, in spite of the incredibly brave battle he waged against it, Myasthenia Gravis, or to the Zion Lutheran Church Alva. Donations may be made through Wharton Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be made at http://www.whartonfuneralchapel.com.
