Alfalfa County signs certification for Cares Act federal funding

A newly erected cross stands tall off Highway 8 in Cherokee along with the words In God We Trust at its base.

All three Alfalfa County commissioners were present Monday morning for their weekly meeting. Jay Hague, Stan Tucker and Marvin Woodall were joined by county clerk Laneta Unruh and administrative assistant Nancy Lambert. Alfalfa County treasurer Valerie Vetter joined the gallery later in the meeting.

The three men dug in the stack of paperwork, approving last week's meeting minutes, maintenance and operation warrants for payment, and blanket purchase orders. There was one road-crossing permit, but some unanswered questions resulted in postponing its acceptance.
