OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma health officials reported six additional deaths from the coronavirus on Sunday as the state's death toll surpassed 900.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health said the state's death toll is now at 905. Health officials also reported 695 new cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus. The total number of reported cases so far is now at 69,354.

The actual number of cases is likely higher because many people haven't been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.

Health officials say more than 58,000 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Oklahoma. There are currently almost 10,000 active cases in the state.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and a cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
