Grow and Share OHCE September meeting

Grow and Share OHCE met for their regular meeting at the Fireside Room of the Cherokee Strip Museum at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 14 with Elizabeth Busse serving as hostess. President Janet Cunningham called the meeting to order. All present recited the flag salute. Busse shared a devotional based on Luke 12:34 on “Getting Your Priorities Straight.” All members present answered roll call to “Do you use probiotics?” There was one guest, Jacon Heaton, present. Minutes for the August meeting were approved as corrected and the treasurer's report was given.

Communications discussed included the September/October newsletter that most members had received. The newsletter referenced several upcoming events and dates to remember.

Under the resource management committee report Janet reported that the education board on saving water is progressing. It should be complete in the next couple of weeks.

Unfinished business included a discussion of the fall display placed on a corner of the downtown square. Jean and Janet completed the display.

New business included completing request forms in the newsletter about the 2021 Woods County Fair and suggestions for Woods County lessons for 2021. Janet will deliver the completed form to the OHCE office. It was strongly agreed that the fair items would carry over to 2021. officers for 2021 were discussed with the suggestion made that the 2020 officers carry over to 2021. An electronic vote will be taken after absent officers are contacted. The officer list, dues and enrollment forms and funds donated to Pennies and Nickels for Friendship and la Preciosita are all due by October 1. Grow and Share will be contributing $28 to each program.

The group spent some time discussing the recent excellent work done by City of Alva sanitation workers Grow and Share will make some gesture to recognize this excellent work.

Elizabeth gave the lesson on, “Gut Health.” She provided many helpful suggestions such as, eat a healthy diet, exercise, get enough sleep, manage stress and keep food safe. The next leader's training on, “The Life-Changing magic of Tidying Up,” is at 1:30 p.m. on September 24, at the OHCE office. Members are encouraged to attend.

Refreshments were served and Secret Sister gifts were exchanged. The meeting adjourned to the October meeting to be held at 1810 Green Meadows Drive on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m. Cheryl Diefenbach and Misty Hoover will co-hostess.
