OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The number of reported coronavirus cases in Oklahoma surpassed 75,000 on Saturday with 1,237 more cases reported by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

The health department said there were 75,804 total cases reported and 943 deaths due to COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus, increases from 73,318 cases on Friday and four additional deaths. The actual number of cases in Oklahoma is likely higher because many people haven't been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.

The health department reported 10,901 active virus cases and that 63,960 people have recovered.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
