Local students participate in livestock judging contest at Woods County Fair

Six teams from Alva and Waynoka 4-H and FFA participated in the Woods County Fair Livestock Judging Contest on Sept. 12. In the Senior FFA division, Alva FFA placed first with the team of Payten Nusser, Tara Owen and Colby Mackey. High individual in the Senior FFA went to Tara Owen, Colby Mackey was second, third to Payten Nusser, all from Alva.

In the Junior FFA Division, Waynoka I FFA placed first. This team consisted of Tayen Redgate, Hunter Durkee, Makinze Smith and Jessica Goucher. Alva FFA placed second and Waynoka II FFA finished with third place. Individual placings were: Breya Beck, Waynoka, first; Makinze Smith, Waynoka, second; Avery McMurphy, Alva, third; Tayen Redgate, Waynoka, fourth; Marlie Pitts, Waynoka, fifth; Brooklyn Murrow, Alva, sixth; Brady Lott, Alva, seventh; Jessica Goucher, Waynoka, eighth; Jansen Shirley, Alva, ninth; Hunter Durkee, Waynoka, tenth; and Serenity Green, Waynoka, 11th.

There were two teams in the Junior 4-H Division. The first place team was Alva I, which consisted of Jenna Murrow, Kaylen Woods Falynn Thomas and Bentley Lott. The second place team was Waynoka with Wyatt Millage, Austin Hawley and Myka Louthan.

High individual in the Junior 4-H Division was Kaylen Woods of Alva; second place was Bentley Lott from Alva, third was Wyatt Millage of Waynoka, fourth was Austin Hawley of Waynoka, fifth Falynn Thomas from Alva, sixth Jenna Murrow from Alva, and Myka Louthan placing seventh.

Special thanks to Randy Nation for organizing the event. Livestock classes for the contest were provided by McMurphy Red Angus. Awards were supplied and presented by the Woods County Fair Board.
