Missionaries participate in Alva Clean-up

Emily West from Provo, Utah; Heather Smyth from Pleasant Grove, Utah; and Sierra Selinger from Boulder City, Nevada, work near the Woods County Coutrhouse to remove weeds on Sept. 19.

Three missionaries serving in the Alva Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined about two dozen people on Sept. 19 for a fall clean-up day in downtown Alva.

The three missionaries were Emily West from Provo, Utah; Heather Smyth from Pleasant Grove, Utah; and Sierra Selinger from Boulder City, Nev. The three are serving 18-month missions for the church.

Alva High School student Joe Parsons, who started a Beautify Alva Facebook group, spearheaded the effort to get people out for a day of cleaning gutters and dangerous intersections mostly around the downtown area. Student...
