A celebration of life service for Rustin Jack Sturgeon was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at the Timberlake High School auditorium. Rustin was born in Enid on July 12, 1961, to Jack and LaJoy Minnick Sturgeon and passed away Monday, September 21, 2020. He grew up and attended school in the Helena community and was recognized as the Enid News and Eagle outstanding FFA member in 1979. He accepted Christ as his Savior in 1972 at church camp.
He and Sheri Severin were married in Goltry on May 24, 1980, recently celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. They farmed and ran cattle in the Goltry area, building R&S Cattle Company.
Over the years, Rustin served on both the Timberlake and Alfalfa County Fair Boards, and the Co-op Board of Directors. Rustin and Sheri attended and are active members of Willow View United Methodist Church in Enid.
Rustin is survived by his wife, Sheri, of the home; son, Quentin and wife Lynsie Strait of Helena; daughters, Megan and husband Clay Albright of Oklahoma City and Brianna and husband Matt Stephens of Goltry; grandchildren Addie Sturgeon, Avery Sturgeon, Corbin Sturgeon, Emma Stephens, Jackson Stephens and Carstin Albright; his sisters, Jolynn and husband Bruss Horn, Robin and husband Tony Ehrlich (all of Chickasha), and numerous other relatives. He was greatly loved by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and more friends than can be counted.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and LaJoy Sturgeon, and grandparents Olin and Goldia Sturgeon and Everett and Clara Minnick.
