First Friday Art Walk tonight features Gateways exhibit

October 2, 2020

A number of paintings by local artist Calvin Graybill are on display this month at Graceful Arts Gallery in Alva.

Three artists are highlighted in the Gateways exhibit for tonight's First Friday Art Walk in Alva. Paintings by Rebekah Griffith of Owasso usually include people although the scenes vary from the snowy town on this edition's front cover to rocky streams or lush pastures.

Photographs by Lauren Kerr, a student at Tulsa University, are part of the Gateways exhibit on display at Graceful Arts Gallery during the First Friday Art Walk.

Lauren Kerr, a student at Tulsa University, prefers using a camera to capture images with meaning. Her display includes a number of scenes with intriguing water reflections.

Paintings by Calvin Graybill of Alva include scenes with towering clouds, old farm buildings and hunting dogs in action.

Filling out the gallery area are continuing displays of wood carvings, sculpture, glass creations and more.

The First Friday Art Walk from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight will include refreshments at the Graceful Arts Gallery, 523 Barnes St. Sidewalk produce and artisanal vendors are also expected to be on hand for browsing.

Just down the street to the east, Warren Little is opening the Old Man's Gallery featuring his art and photography. Located at 505 Barnes, Suite 100, in the Bell Hotel, the gallery may be entered from the street or through the lobby.
