October Artist in Residence Alyssa Klauer's work creates intense psychological space

Northwestern Oklahoma State University has announced its Artist-in-Residence for October: Alyssa Klauer, a painter from Brooklyn, N.Y., who has exhibited in San Francisco; New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Anjo, Japan.
Klauer says her paintings are "constructed on a foundation of visual effects – faux finishes, faux worlds and phantasmagoric qualities – in an attempt to create a feeling of polyphony or mixed response, difference in sameness, repulsion in attraction.
