Remains in Crawford County identified; homicide suspected

PITTSBURG, Kan. (AP) — Remains found in western Crawford County in August were those of a man who had been missing since July 1, authorities said Friday.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Crawford County Sheriff's Office said the remains were identified as 19-year-old Joseph Ruttgen. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
A family member reported Ruttgen missing to Erie police on July 1. He was last seen in Parsons.
DNA was used to positively identify Ruttgen because of the condition of the body....
