2 facing misdemeanors after vehicles drove into protesters

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Two people who allegedly drove their vehicles into racial justice protests in Lawrence earlier this year are facing misdemeanor charges, according to court records.
Lynda C. Kitsmiller, of Lawrence, has been issued a summons to appear in court on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and battery. Police allege she accelerated her SUV into protesters occupying an downtown Lawrence intersection during a protest on May 31, The Lawrence Journal-World reported.
One person suffered minor injuries and declined medical help at the scene, police said.
