Kiowa City Council negotiating with a city administrator candidate

November 4, 2020

Monday night Kiowa's City Council held a special meeting. In executive session, they visited in person with a city administrator candidate with whom they are negotiating.

Mayor Bill Watson confirmed this information to the Newsgram. Watson said the man is married and would bring three school-aged children. The candidate has not yet signed a contract so the council is not yet releasing his name. The mayor said the candidate is looking at housing to meet the needs of his family and that is not yet settled. Watson said the candidate currently works for the State of Kansas and has lived in Newton at least 20 years.

Mayor Watson said they hope to have the details worked out by the council's regular monthly meeting next Monday, Nov. 9.

The council conducted some other business at the meeting Monday night that will be reported in the Newsgram next week.
