Tulsa, Okla. (AP) — An auto theft suspect was fatally shot by officers in Tulsa when the man tried to run them over with a pickup truck, police said.

Officers searching for the man found him at a hotel Thursday and he got into a pickup truck, then rammed a police vehicle and tried to run over officers as they got out of the vehicle, Officer Jeanne Pierce said.

Four officers then opened fire in the hotel parking lot, killing the man whose name has not been released, said Pierce, who described the man as an American Indian.
