Christmas lights should go up in Freedom next week, the maintenance department told the town board at its regular meeting Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the Town of Freedom office on Main Street. Present were Mayor Shad Brackin and Trustee Rolando Galindo. Trustee Concha Herrera was absent. Town Clerk and Treasurer Cindy Reed was also present.

The maintenance department also reported that the south water tower is having problems. Bill Devor is rebuilding a valve.

Town Clerk Reed told the board about merchant services with GovCard. Dawn Wares will email information about the services to trustees so that they can discuss it at the next meeting.

In new business, Mayor Brackin told the board that an attorney recommended by Freedom's town attorney will need to be contacted about a landowner’s rights and the town's rights for the town's CDBG grant project. Brackin said he wants to double check the cathodic protection option for gas line to make sure replacement is the right option.

The board approved past meeting minutes, purchase orders for the general, ambulance and fire funds, the interlocal agreement for District 8 Engineers.

After the meeting adjourned, the same members met as the Municipal Trust Authority (MTA). As the MTA board, the group approved past meeting minutes and purchase orders for the MTA funds.
