On behalf of the Benjamin Steinmetz Charitable Foundation, trustee Jim Parker and his wife Bobbie present a $330,000 check to the Friends of the Kiowa Hospital and Manor Foundation President Judy Schrock and KDH CEO/CFO Janell Harbaugh. The money is for the new addition at the hospital.

The somewhat new Benjamin Steinmetz Charitable Foundation presented $330,000 to the Friends of the Kiowa Hospital and Manor Foundation recently.

This was announced at the November meeting of the Kiowa District Hospital last week. Hospital Foundation President Judy Schrock said, "We are all so appreciative – the entire community has to be thankful and grateful for Mr. Steinmetz' generosity."

"It's almost unbelievable that a small community would receive a bequest in that manner," Schrock said. She commented that Kiowa is so fortunate to have numerous charitable foundations and organizations that give so much to the community, such as the Myrtle King Foundation, the General Store, the Monty Thompson Continuing Education Foundation, the Hospital Foundation and now the Ben Steinmetz Foundation.

"So many people in our community are willing to step up, carry on and serve on these boards and foundations," Schrock said.

The Steinmetz gift for the Hospital Foundation will go specifically for Phase II of the "Where Community and Care Come Together Capital Campaign," Schrock said. This is for the KDH Behavioral Health and Wellness Addition which includes physical and other therapies that is currently under construction at the hospital.

KDH Board of Director President Pat Myers read a letter to the Hospital Foundation at the meeting that said in part, "The Benjamin Steinmetz Charitable Foundation is honored to present you with this contribution and hopes it will provide you with the resources you need for bestowing health welfare and completing phase two of the Where Community and Care Come Together Campaign. Benjamin Steinmetz was a strong supporter of your charitable organization and it is a pleasure that his Foundation can continue to support the excellent healthcare provided by the hospital and manor for the Kiowa community."

The letter was signed by trustee Darry D. Brown. KDH Board of Director Secretary Jim Parker is also a trustee on the Steinmetz Foundation.
