After the football season, the Alva Goldbugs had little time to prepare for basketball. Coach Shane Feely said several scrimmages were canceled due to Covid at other schools so Alva had only one scrimmage before the home opener against Chisholm Tuesday. The Longhorns won the game 57-38.
Chisholm broke out to an early 8-0 lead before Alva could get on the scoreboard. At the end of the first quarter, the Longhorns led 10-6. Alva added nine points in the second period, but Chisholm increased their lead with 14 for a halftime score of Chisholm 24, Alva 15.
