The Alva Ladybugs opened their basketball schedule with a victory over the Chisholm Lady Longhorns at home Tuesday night. Alva led for most of the game, widening the margin to double digits, but Chisholm fought back to take the lead in the final period. The outcome was down to the wire with the Ladybugs winning 72-70.

Alva pulled ahead in the first quarter 14-9, and both teams added 19 in the second for a halftime score of 33-28 with the Ladybugs leading.
