Woman arrested after car with 7 passengers rolls, killing 1

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) — A Hutchinson woman who was driving a vehicle carrying seven passengers when it rolled — killing one passenger — lost a bid for a lower bond and can be detained until charges are formally filed, a judge ruled during a hearing Monday.

Viola G. Rhodes, 31, of Hutchinson, faces several possible charges, including involuntary manslaughter, after the crash Saturday night near Hutchinson. One of the passengers, Brian Bookout, 44, of Hutchinson was thrown from the vehicle later died from his injuries.
