Andover latest Kansas city to remove ban on pit bulls

ANDOVER, Kan. (AP) — Andover became the latest city in Kansas to overturn ordinances banning pit bulls within city limits, when the city council voted this week to repeal a decades-old ordinance banning the dog breed.

The issue gained momentum after the city annexed land last year where some pit bull owners lived, said City Administrator Jennifer McCausland. Those dogs were allowed to stay but were still considered "potentially dangerous" under the former ordinance.

As of Saturday, pit bulls will now fall under the city's dangerous dog ordinance.
