Porsha is slowly improving

December 16, 2020

You may have seen an article in the Newsgran last week about "Praying for Porsha."

That's Porsha Binning, an active senior girl at South Barber High School, who was hit like a ton of bricks with mono and then a "very rare" disease, Guillain-Barre syndrome. This disease is a disorder of the immune system where the nerves are attacked by immune cells. It had her down, hardly able to move.

For over a week Porsha's been in ICU at Wesley Hospital in Wichita. She remains in ICU. Late Tuesday afternoon her mother Donna Binning told the Newsgram, "She has been up and down all week. She was able to walk assisted down the hallway today and is getting some fine motor skills back. She just really needs to be able to breathe on her own so that we can get her tubes removed.

"We are hoping for more good days strung together instead of the up and down rollercoaster. She has had a great support from the community, including 12 cards in one day."

Porsha's friends at South Barber held a prayer circle for her last week.
