Alva Church of God

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Nathan Braudrick. Alva Church of God is located at 517 Ninth St. in Alva and can be found on the web at

Sunday: Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. and morning worship is at 10:30 a.m. Evening worship begins at 5:30 p.m. Young adults gather at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday: Wednesday services include 7 p.m. Bible Study, and youth group also meets at 7 p.m.

Alva Friends Church

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m .; coffee and donut fellowship at 10:10 a.m .; worship at 10:30 a.m. However, all of our in-person meetings have been temporarily postponed. These will resume once the CDC gives the go-ahead.

Alva Friends Church is on the corner of College Avenue and Center Street.

Barnes Street Church of Christ

Sunday worship services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. (7 p.m. during daylight savings time). Visitors are most welcome to attend the worship services. For more information, contact Andrew Rhodes (327-3368) and Brian Gaddy (327-5130).

Bible Baptist Church

Bible Baptist Church has taken more steps to ensure your safety when you come to worship. Our buildings are now fogged with disinfectant after each service to provide a cleaner facility. We provide masks and hand sanitizer for each service if you need it. We offer different service formats of worship if you need to maintain social distancing.

Our morning service begins at 10:30 a.m. There will be three ways to participate in our worship service. First, we will live stream our service over our Facebook page. Second, our front parking lot is reserved for those who want to listen from the safety of their car as we broadcast our worship service over an FM channel. Finally, we will be allowing worshipers into our building for regular services. Our church strives to serve and help keep you safe during these difficult times.

Our Family Discipleship will start at 9:30 a.m. There are three graded classes for children, a teen class, and two adult Bible classes. Join us for a time of learning and fellowship. Family Discipleship emphasizes family learning and will provide the tools necessary to help parents teach the Bible to their children.

Christmas has arrived at BBC. The Voices of Christmas begins at 10:30 a.m. Our choir and our youth will sing in our service this morning. Come and join us to celebrate the arrival of our Savior.

Junior and Teen Impact, our student ministry for grades 6-12, meets at 5 p.m.

Our evening service will continue our emphasis on Christmas, beginning at 6 p.m. Again, we will be offering all three ways to participate.

Tuesdays: Celebrate Recovery meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based recovery program to help provide a safe place to discover a Savior who can give freedom from hang-ups, hurts and habits. Everyone is invited to attend.

Wednesday, Dec. 23: We will have a special communion worship service at 6 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 24: On Christmas Eve we will have a family time of worship starting at 6 p.m. We will broadcast it if you need to stay in your car and livestream the service if you need to stay home. Whatever way you need to worship, please join us as we worship the arrival of our Savior!

Capron United Methodist Church

Cedar Grove Wesleyan Church

Pastor Nathan Hosier and the Cedar Grove family invite you and your family to come this Sunday to worship with us. This Sunday we will continue with our Advent series with a message titled “A Gift of Love in a Weary World.” We will live stream the service. Search for Cedar Grove on Facebook. We are a country church that serves Christ and community with agape love. Come join us every Sunday for Sunday school at 10 a.m. Worship service will be at 11 a.m. We have a group study Sunday evening at 6 p.m. at the church. Our youth will meet on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Our Worker Appreciation Truck Stop continues every other Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the church. Stop by and see us. The ladies' sewing group meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month here at the church.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

The Alva Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has resumed services every week. However, only a 45-minute sacrament meeting (worship service) will be held beginning at 10 a.m.

Members are encouraged to continue gospel study at home using the Come Follow Me – Book of Mormon manual.

The church building is located at 1467 Thunderbird, Alva, which is next to the Alva Recreation Center.

College Hill Church of Christ

College Hill Church of Christ is currently meeting only Sunday morning (9:30 class, 10:30 worship) and Wednesday night at 7 p.m. No Sunday afternoon service or meal.

Dacoma United Methodist Church

Everyone is welcome. Fellowship coffee and doughnuts are at 8:45 a.m. Worship service with Rev. Don Jones is at 9 a.m.

eXtreme Youth Center

The eXtreme, located at 425 College Ave. in Alva, is a ministry of Hopeton Church. Students in sixth through 12th grade are invited to come hang out, play games, work on homework and enjoy time with friends after school from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The eXtreme is available to rent for parties and events. First Assembly of God

Morning worship begins at 10:45 a.m. each Sunday morning. We currently do not have an evening service.

First Baptist Church

Notice: First Baptist will continue to livestream its services for the time being.

Sunday: 9:15 a.m. small groups, 10:30 a.m. morning worship with nursery provided.

First Christian Church

Sunday: Church will have church in the sanctuary (please wear a mask), but will not have Sunday school. Worship will be at 10:30 a.m. both inside the sanctuary and online via Facebook live. Rev. Drew Kirtley will bring the message “A Choice,” based on Deuteronomy 30:15-20. Kevin Pingelton will be scripture reader. Elders will be Jason Gaisford (Communion Prayer) and Kevin Pingelton (Dedication of Offering); deacons will be Keli Woods and Lisa Parker (greeters), and Tricia Coday (counter). First Presbyterian Church

Sunday: Sunday school will be at 9:30, and worship will be at 11 a.m. (with social distancing; masks are required and provided if needed. Ida Evans will be the liturgist. Readings will be Isaiah 9:2-7 and Luke 2:15-20. Rev. Ron Pingelton will bring the sermon “Some Assembly Required.”

Thursday, December 24: Christmas Eve and Communion Service will begin at 6 p.m. Ron Pingelton will be the pastor, and Della Miller the liturgist.

First United Methodist Church

Thursday, December 24: All are welcome to our outdoor Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and a blanket or stay in your car to keep warm. We will also livestream on Facebook and Youtube for those who want to participate from home. If you are joining us online, stop by the church before Christmas Eve to pick up a candle and communion elements for each person in your family.

Nazarene Church

Donut and coffee fellowship is at 9:15 each Sunday morning, Bible study for ages 6 and up at 9:30, and worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Nursery is available for children under age 6 during worship. Missions lessons for ages 6 through fifth grade are held the second and fourth Sundays of the month.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church

The celebration of Holy Mass (Jesus in the Eucharist) is the source of our spiritual nourishment. Rev. Father Bala, Sagili Jesudas, is the parish priest (pastor) of Sacred Heart in Alva and its missions in Cherokee and Waynoka. You are welcome; be a part of the Sacred Heart Parish family.

Town and Country Christian Church

Sunday school will be at 9:30 a.m. and Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m.

Zion Lutheran Church

Please join us on Sundays for Sunday school and worship with us at Zion Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) at Third and Maple streets.

Sunday school (children and adults) begins at 9:15 a.m. Fellowship is at 10 a.m. Worship starts at 10:30 a.m. with Communion on the first and third Sundays. During Advent and Lent, Zion holds Wednesday services at 7 p.m.

Weekly Happenings: Weekday School (grades 4-6) meets on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Handbells practice Mondays at 5 p.m.
