Lady Rangers 2021 basketball schedule released

(Notice: The Great American Conference announced its Council of Presidents agreed to not allow any fans for the first two weeks of games. They will look to reconsider following the games played on Saturday, Jan. 16.)
ALVA, Okla. – The 2020-21 Northwestern Oklahoma State University women’s basketball schedule includes a 20-game divisional Great American Conference slate. The conference announced it on Nov. 16. The Lady Rangers will also play two non-conference contests to bring the 2020-21 schedule to 22 games.
The season officially opens in Percefull Fieldhouse on Friday, Jan. 1. Northwestern is set to host Oklahoma Panhandle State University at 2 pm. The next day, Jan. 2, NWOSU welcomes Tabor College to close out their non-conference slate.
The Lady Rangers will play 10 conference home games and 10 road games beginning on Thursday, Jan. 7, at Percefull Fieldhouse against Southern Nazarene University.
The Red-and-Black will host the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist on Jan. 9 and travel to Weatherford for their first rivalry matchup against the Lady Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Jan. 11.
The month of January will consist of 10 GAC home-and-away series with SNU, OBU, SWOSU, SOSU and ECU. Northwestern will travel to Durant on Jan. 30 to face the Savage Storm of SOSU to finish off the first month of the 2020-2021 season.
February showcases the final 10 matchups of conference play with only five games left to play at Percefull Fieldhouse. NWOSU will host OBU on Feb. 4. The Lady Rangers will finish GAC play at home against ECU on Feb. 27.
Tasha Diesselhorst is heading into her fifth season as Head Women’s Basketball Coach alongside Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Kylie Franz.
Diesselhorst will return leading scorer Bailey Brown, a senior from Enid.
During Brown’s junior season, she was recognized after reaching 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. She earned Second Team All-Great American Conference after averaging 15.2 points per game and 8.1 rebounds, putting her fourth-best in the conference. Brown shot 83% from the free-throw line making 142 free throws during the season, and scored 36 points against Arkansas Tech. She finished the season with eight double-doubles.
Northwestern will look to improve in 2020-2021 from their previous season.
