Police: Oklahoma officer shot man who approached with weapon

MCaLESTER, Oklahoma (AP) — A 40-year-old Oklahoma man was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday after police shot him when he moved toward officers with a weapon, state investigators said.

Police in McAlester, a city 130 miles (209 kilometers) southwest of Oklahoma City, received a call Thursday about Nicholas Halkias trying to hurt himself, according to a statement from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
