Mike Roach (third from left) starts his journey as an Alfalfa County commissioner, jumping right in to sign county documents during the Monday morning meeting. From left are administrative assistant Nancy Lambert; commissioners Jay Hague, Mike Roach and Marvin Woodall; and County Clerk Laneta Unruh.

The first item on the agenda was acknowledging his position, followed by the appointment of chairman and vice-chairman for 2021. Hague has served as chairman for many years, but the three men voted to put Woodall in that rank, with Hague as the vice.

After that, Roach got his feet wet on the signing of papers. The commissioners approved the last meeting's minutes, warrants for payment, monthly officer reports, and the court clerk records management and preservation monthly report. Signed off on as well were monthly highway expenditures and blanket purchase orders.

Next, the men approved the IRS mileage set for county officers and employee's reimbursement as $0.56. On their to-do list, the last item was to sign the engagement letter on an exit audit for turnover for Stan Tucker.
