WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Police in Wichita are investigating a shooting outside a restaurant that left one man dead and say detectives have arrested a 26-year-old man with a long criminal history.
The shooting was reported around 1:30 p.m. Thursday in south Wichita, police said. A preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from a disturbance outside Berrieria Tito restaurant.
Police said the victim made his way back into the restaurant, where he died from his injuries. Police did not immediately release the victim's name.
Shortly after the shooting, police arrested Adrian Nicholas Zongker, who is currently on parole on a separate conviction. The Wichita Eagle reported that Zongker has five prior convictions in Sedgwick County, including for assault and weapons counts.
Officer Charley Davidson told reporters there is no indication that Zongker and the victim knew each other before the shooting.
