Northwestern sweeps USAO Wednesday night

ALVA, Okla. – The Rangers grabbed their second sweep of the season after they defeated the University of Science and Arts in three straight sets (25-10, 25-16, 25-8).

Northwestern Volleyball (RV) improves to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Great American Conference.

"Very proud of the ladies for getting a win on National Girls and Women in Sports Day," Head Coach Fred Aubuchon said.

"I was very excited to give all of our players an opportunity to see the court tonight, they each have been working hard and deserve a chance to show it in a match."

The Red and Black balanced its offensive and defensive efforts by attacking at a .257 rate while holding USAO to a -0.91 clip.

For the third time in as many contests, Kaydee Honeycutt recorded double digit kills. Honeycutt tallied 13 kills and finished hitting .300 (13-4-30) along with 10 digs and seven blocks.

Kate Deterding added five kills, nine digs and two blocks.

Tarra Parks chipped in five kills, four service aces and 10 digs.

Jessica Thompson finished with four kills and three blocks.

Carmae Jones blocked seven Drovers and added two kills.

Avery Osburg distributed 17 assists, one kill and four digs.

SET 1: Northwestern finished on top of the Drovers 25-10. Honeycutt chipped in six kills and six digs. Jones blocked the ball four times and added two kills. Osburg assisted her team 10 times and dug the ball four. The Rangers finished the set with a .300 attacking percentage. Darlene Burch led USAO with two kills.

SET 2: The Red and Black overpowered USAO 25-16 in the second set. Northwestern finished hitting .154 with a 11-3-52 clip. Honeycutt tallied five kills, Deterding added four and Sydnee Miller chipped in six digs. Ravyn Burns and Honeycutt blocked the Drovers four times apiece and Osburg assisted the Rangers seven times. NWOSU held USAO to a -.064 hitting percentage with a 9-12-47 clip. Burch finished with three kills for the Drovers and Cheyanne Dube chipped in eight digs.

SET 3: The Rangers finished with their best hitting percentage of the night (.474) after they sealed the sweep by defeating the Drovers 25-8 in the final set. Thompson led Northwestern in the third set with four kills and three blocks. Parks added three kills along with two digs and three service aces, while Madison Dehlinger and Honeycutt both tallied two apiece. Morgan Bullinger assisted the Red-and-Black five times and Maggie Peterson dug the ball three times.
