Newly reported coronavirus cases in Oklahoma declining

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The number of newly reported coronavirus cases in Oklahoma continued a recent decline Tuesday with the state Department of Health reporting 359 new cases in addition to 24 more deaths due to the illness caused by the virus.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases during the past two weeks has fallen from 2,018 per day to 797 and the average number of daily deaths declined from 36 to 23, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
There have been 420,212 total cases and 4,227 COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic began last March, the health department reported.
Oklahoma had the 15th highest rate in the nation with 15% of the population having received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control.
Oklahoma was 13th in the nation in the number of new cases per capita with 376.84 per 100,000 population, according to the Johns Hopkins data.
