Cherokee School Board lifts mask mandate

Superintendent commends staff's professionalism as reductions worked out

Smiles and relieved sighs spread through the room as the Cherokee School Board voted to lift the mask mandate for both staff and students. Masks are now a personal choice, as recommended by Superintendent Bryce Schanbacher.

“In Cherokee since our last meeting, we have only had two confirmed positive cases,” he said. “We have not had any major issues here for a very long time, so one thing I think we can do that will improve some morale and try to get back to some normalcy would be to amend the protocols and go to 'personal choice' for the mask mandate.
