Alva Public Library Board members learned Monday afternoon that the library elevator has not been operational for about six weeks. Library Director Sandra Hamilton said the elevator was fine at the end of the week, but when staff came in on Monday it did not work.

It’s suspected a power surge over that weekend caused the problem. Two motherboards have burn marks and will need to be replaced. Unfortunately, one is obsolete. The elevator company will try to repair it by replacing damaged parts. If that is not possible, the elevator will require a complete replacement of the electrical system.
