Cherokee School Board hears sobering financial news; sets date for staff reductions hearing

The Cherokee School Board held a special meeting Thursday, March 25, to set the date and time for a public hearing about the six positions Superintendent Bryce Schanbacher and his team have identified as those that will have to be eliminated.

Before hearing Schanbacher's reasons for the reduction recommendations, the board listened to a presentation of the school audit by Pat Carroll of Chas W. Caroll PA.

It was not a rosy picture. Reducing expenditures by about $2 million will be required to keep the school afloat, Schanbacher later noted.
