Recent legislation, state board action increase financial pressure for Alva Public Schools

 


After more than a year of dealing with falling revenue from gross production (oil and gas) taxes, the Alva Public Schools are facing more financial pressure from new legislation and a state school board decision.

Superintendent Tim Argo told the school board Monday that gross production revenue is down $615,000 from last year. Like other schools, Alva is also affected by companies protesting their valuations which can go on for years.
