Updates add more deaths to Woods County total

This week, the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) has updated the number of Covid-19 cases in Oklahoma as well as the number of deaths. In the Wednesday, April 7, report, the OSDH added approximately 1,300 previously unreported cases and 1,716 unreported deaths to the dashboard. This resulted in an additional six deaths reported in Woods County, bringing the total to 17. In Alfalfa County, deaths were increased by two resulting in a total of seven.

OSDH Case investigated 1,716 additional deaths ranging from April 2020 through the end of March 2021. For more information, visit https://oklahoma.gov/covid19.html.

The number of active cases in Oklahoma has now fallen below 10,000 with 9,952 listed in Wednesday’s report. Ten Oklahoma counties, including Alfalfa County, are now in the green risk level. Alfalfa County has 11 active cases. Woods County remains in the yellow risk category with 15 active cases reported.

In Woods County, Alva currently has 11 active cases with a total of 15 deaths. Waynoka has two active cases, and Dacoma has one. Freedom currently has no active cases. These numbers don’t add up to the county total. The OSDH says this is usually due to incomplete information.

Oklahoma is in phase four of the Covid immunization schedule with all individuals age 16 and up eligible for the vaccine. You can register to be scheduled for the vaccine at https://oklahoma.gov/covid19.html.
