Oklahoma coronavirus case number averages are declining

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The rolling average of coronavirus cases in Oklahoma is declining, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

On Saturday, the rolling average of new cases had fallen by 27.4 during the past two weeks, from 321.4 daily on April 1 to 294 per day on April 15, a drop of 8.5%, according to the data.

The number of new cases per capita, 109.5 cases per 100,000 people, ranked ranks 47th in the nation.

More than 2.3 million coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered in the state, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

The federal Centers for Disease control reports 36.6% of the state's population has received at least one dose of the vaccine and that 24% are fully vaccinated.

The health department, which no longer provides daily case and death counts during weekends, on Friday reported 444,863 total virus cases and 8,124 deaths based on death certificates supplied to the federal Centers for Disease Control.
