Legislative session enters closing weeks

 


Under Oklahoma’s Constitution, the Legislature must complete its work by no later than 5 p.m. on the last Friday in May. That means we’re in the closing weeks of the session.

At this point, we’ve passed deadlines for floor votes on bills from the opposite chamber. Bills that were amended across the rotunda now come back to the Senate to either accept or reject changes. If the amendments are accepted, the bill goes to the governor. If the amendments are rejected, the author can ask for a conference committee where members in each chamber work out those differences to produce a final version all...
