Man charged with failure to pay child support

 


Charges were filed May 14 in Alfalfa County against Byron Eugene Coley, 33, for omitting to provide for minor children, a felony. Coley whose last listed address is Cherokee is charged with not paying child support for three children since July 1, 2019, to the current date. He is now considered delinquent in the sum of $13,404.52. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Court records show on March 8, the children’s mother Lacretia Reuss talked to Cherokee Police Chief Ryan McNeil about the case. McNeil received paperwork from an employee of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) which showed between July 2019 and Feb. 2021, Coley’s court ordered child support totaled $7,542.95 and there was a previous outstanding balance of $7,675.70. During that time Coley made payments totaling $2,141.36 with no payments being made since November of 2020. The total unpaid balance of child support payments owed by Coley is $13,404.52 as of Feb. 11, 2021.

This crime is punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 or imprisonment for up to four years, or both.
