Allison said his military service was a childhood dream

Thank a veteran this Memorial Day

 

A 2015 South Barber graduate, Dylan Allison stands with his Army buddies in the 10th Mountain Division as they serve in Afghanistan.

"I was always taught to respect and defend the flag," young veteran Dylan Allison said. At Veterans Day programs when bands play and those brave men and women who served in the U.S. military are recognized, Allison admitted, "It always gives me chills."

When asked why he felt compelled to serve, Allison replied, "It was just a childhood dream. I always wanted to join (the military). It was a good decision. I was inspired by stories of people who served and seeing what people go through. I saw how humble people are and wanted to be like them."
