Joseph Jacob Frieden, oldest son of Jeff and Frieda Farney Frieden, was born April 9, 1925, on a farm south of Burlington, Oklahoma. He passed from this life peacefully into the arms of His Saviour at the age of 96 years, 1 month and 16 days on May 25, 2021, at Kiowa District Hospital.

Joe attended Burlington Public School and graduated in 1943. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1944, serving 18 months in the South Pacific with Americal Division.
