Two from Woodward injured in collision

Two people were injured in a collision Friday morning in Harper County. Claude Marr, 77, of Woodward, was transported by AirEvac to St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, where he was admitted in stable condition with head and leg injuries. Patricia Marr, 76, of Woodward, was transported by Laverne EMS to Harper County Community Hospital in Buffalo. She was later flown by Eagle Med to OU trauma in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in stable condition with a spinal injury.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports the collision occurred at 7:30 a.m. Friday on US-283 approximately two miles south of Laverne.

Claude Marr was driving a 2003 Kia Sedona northbound on US-283 approaching County Road 230 to make a right turn. Jimmi Winn, 19, of May, was driving a 2015 Toyota Rav4 northbound and struck the Marr vehicle from behind. According to the OHP report, Winn was distracted by her car radio and didn’t realize Marr was slowing down to make the right turn.

Winn was not injured. All three involved were wearing seatbelts. Both driver airbags deployed.

Trooper Cody Rehder investigated, assisted by Harper County Sheriff’s Office, Laverne EMS, Laverne Fire Department and AirEvac.
