The 2021 wheat harvest was average to above average and came fast and furious

Driving along Highway 8 last Friday, a few miles south of Kiowa, Kansas, found this harvest action going on in a field reportedly owned by Bob Schrock. The Perry Hoffman custom cutter crew of South Dakota had multiple combines rolling in the field with grain carts pulled by tractors and semis waiting to be filled. This is just a glimpse of the fast and furious 2021 harvest that took just over one week to be mainly complete.

A little over one week of cutting and the 2021 wheat crop is mostly cut and in the elevators in the Newsgram reading area of northwest Oklahoma and southcentral Kansas. The main delay was awaiting custom cutters to arrive from cutting in Texas where they experienced rain delays.

Kelln Comments on Dacoma Crop

Monday Dacoma Coop Manager Jake Kelln said, "Dacoma is all but finished with harvest – down to three farmers to finish." Yields were far ranging from 20 to 70 bushels/acre. "The overall average made for a good harvest," he said.
