Police: Woman arrested after abuse accusation at shelter

 


CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Law enforcement officials say a woman who worked at a Chattanooga shelter for immigrant children has been arrested after abuse allegations.

The Chattanooga Police Department announced Wednesday that 35-year-old Randi Duarte faces charges of sexual battery by an authority figure, coercion of a witness and tampering with evidence.

Police say they received a complaint in late May and worked with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Homeland Security and the Hamilton County District Attorney's office to investigate the allegation.
