The other Lincoln political family, part 1

 


Certainly, one of the most well-known American historical figures is Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln served in the Illinois state legislature (1834-1842) and the U.S. House of Representatives (1847-1849) before becoming the president of the United States from 1861 until 1865.

Like so many government officials, Lincoln had a relative who also become a prominent political figure. Robert, the only one of Abraham and Mary Lincoln’s four sons to live to be an adult, had a successful political career, too.
