'My sole goal is to take pictures'

After retiring as an attorney, Janice Yeary travels the country with her husband in an RV. Her photographs are sometimes detailed and sometimes dreamy but always intriguing. Yeary's work is on display during July at Graceful Arts Gallery in Alva.

As the photography editor for Pawhuska High School's yearbook, Janice began taking her own pictures. Over the years, photography has been a hobby as she pursued other life goals.

Yeary raised two children, went to law school and worked as a federal lawyer for 32 years. "All that time I was kind of developing my interest in photography, taking junior college classes, going to workshops across the country," she said.

Now that she is retired, Yeary says, "My sole goal in life is to take pictures wherever I can. As soon as I retired, my husband and I bought an RV and started traveling the country...
