Wichita police say man dies in crash while fleeing police

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A 28-year-old man died Wednesday in a collision while he was fleeing from police, Wichita police said.

Police spokesman Charley Davidson said officers were looking for the man regarding a report of prior drug trafficking while armed. Police pulled him over for a traffic violation but the man took off in his vehicle, KAKE-TV reported.

He collided with a pickup truck near Park City. The suspect died at the scene. The 43-year-old truck driver was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

Officers found possible evidence of drug trafficking in the suspect's vehicle, Davidson said.

No names have been released.
