Oklahoma police fatally shoot armed man in Duncan

DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) — Police in Duncan fatally shot an armed man who pointed the weapon at officers, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, which is investigating the shooting.

Officers responding to reports of a domestic disturbance on Thursday were met by Shawn Tillison, 43, who was pointing a weapon in the air, OSBI spokesperson Brook Arbeitman said.

Tillison refused to drop the weapon and aimed it at officers, who shot Tillison dead, Arbeitman said.

Arbeitman said only that "multiple" officers were on the scene and did not know whether they were placed on paid leave. Duncan police referred all questions back to the OSBI.

The OSBI will submit a report on its investigation of the shooting to the district attorney, who will determine whether to file charges, Arbeitman said.
