Four teachers were hired on temporary one year contracts by the Alva Board of Education Monday. Not all of them are new to the Alva district. Karen Mead intended to retire but has agreed to return as a 4/7 Title 1 teacher at Washington Elementary School. Vanessa Garvie of Burlington will handle 3/7 of the Title 1 position at Washington.
Crystal Murrow, who previously taught in Alva, will be the district’s ESL (English as a second language) teacher. Julie Benningfield will be a 4/7 Title 1 teacher at Lincoln Elementary.
