Waynoka man injured in motorcycle wreck

A Waynoka man is in critical condition following a motorcycle wreck on Wednesday. Clinton Dewayne Medlan, 61, of Waynoka, was transported by Air Evac from the scene to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was admitted for head and trunk internal injuries and listed in critical condition.

The wreck occurred Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 8:41 p.m. on a county road a mile north and 2.8 miles east of Quinlan in Woodward County. According to the report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Medlan was driving a 1996 Honda VCD motorcycle eastbound when he entered a curve to the north.

The motorcycle failed to negotiate the curve and struck a curve warning sign. The motorcycle was laid over on its side, ejecting Medlan who landed 38 feet from the motorcycle which came to rest by the sign in the north traffic lane of the roadway. The OHP report lists the cause of the wreck as unsafe speed on a curve.

OHP Lt. Chance Husted investigated, assisted by Waynoka Fire and EMS, Waynoka Police Department and Air Evac.
